Clinical features and postoperative diagnosis of patients with adnexal masses

Introduction: adnexal tumors are a frequent complaint for women visiting a gynecology clinic. From an anatomical point of view, uterine adnexa refers to Fallopian tubes, ovaries, broad ligament and any structures included between its both leaves which are mainly embryonic remainders.
Objective: to describe clinical and epidemiological features, operatory findings and histological diagnosis in patients who underwent surgical treatment due to adnexal mass in America Arias Maternity Hospital.
Methods: a crossed sectional study was carried out on women who had undergone a laparotomy in America Arias Maternity Hospital due to adnexal mass between January 2019 and December 2021. The research included all women operated in the above mentioned period.
Results: with 179 women includes in the research, their age ranged between 18 and 88 years old. The most frequent operative and histological finding was benign neoplasm of ovary.
Conclusions: the most frequent chief complaint was hypogastric pain and also the pelvic tumor, which was afterward confirmed by imagining exams.
