Abstract

Introduction: Ectopic pregnancy on the scar of a previous caesarean section is a very uncommon pathology. It is accompanied by potentially serious complications (hemorrhage, tissue persistence, uterine rupture, hysterectomy, infertility, maternal mortality) so that early diagnosis and adequate management are fundamental to avoid an outcome that puts the mother's life at risk.
Case report: Patient with ectopic pregnancy, implanted on the scar of a previous caesarean section. The diagnosis was made by transvaginal ultrasound and she was treated by using systemic and incasacular metrotexate, which resulted in total elimination of the gestational sack and with B-HGC values comparable to that of non-pregnant women.
Conclusions: The choice of treatment must be individualized, according to the characteristics of each patient, such as gestational age, desire to preserve fertility, clinical status of the doctor's patient and expertise to treat them. Timely detection and management decreases complications that could appear.
