About the Journal
Aims and Scope
The Revista Cubana de Obstetricia y Ginecología is the official organ of scientific diffusion of the Cuban Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Starting with the 50th volume of 2024, it implements the system of continuous publication with scientific articles written by Cuban and foreign authors, current information on research and developments preferably in the area of the specialty. Occasionally, supplements or special issues will be published.
The journal has a broad publication profile. It will prioritize manuscripts related to: Obstetrics and Gynecology in all its aspects and subspecialties, in addition to Nursing and Medical Education.
The objective of the journal is to allow the visualization of the scientific results of the work of related professionals and, in this way, contribute to the formation and training of human resources for health in any part of the world.
The Revista Cubana de Obstetricia y Ginecología complies with the certification requirements established for serial scientific-technological publications by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment of the Republic of Cuba. It does not contain or accept advertising or commercial materials, is not responsible for the opinions or criteria of the authors, and does not accept works that have been previously published or are under the consideration of the Editorial Board of another national or foreign journal. The publication rules can be consulted before submitting an article on-line in section policies.

Only original research articles.
Review articles
Systematic review and meta-analysis articles will be accepted if they are considered current and of interest or respond to requests from the editorial committee. We recommend the use of PRISMA (Preferredreportingitemsforsystematicreview and meta-analysis) criteria for this type of article.
Case reports
Those which, due to the infrequency of their presentation, or the relevance of the clinical, analytical, imaging or anatomo-pathological findings, are considered illustrative of clinical practice, will be admitted.
Letters to the Editor
To allow exchange, debate and disagreement about the articles appearing in the journal.

Peer review process
Peer review is a tool that helps the editor and editorial board decide which articles are most appropriate for publication in the journal, while allowing authors and the editor to maintain the quality of the papers being published. Articles submitted to La Revista Cubana de Obstetricia y Ginecología are double-blind peer-reviewed, the reviewer and the author remain anonymous. Special care is taken to comply with established ethical standards to avoid conflicts of interest.
All proposed manuscripts are sent to external reviewers, external to the publishing institution.
The Editorial Board will perform an initial review to determine the relevance of the topic and whether the manuscript complies with the Publication Guidelines. If the manuscript presents methodological deficiencies or does not deal with a topic of interest to the journal, it will be rejected. In either case, the author must be notified within seven days of receipt of the article. If an extension is required, the author must be notified again.
Receipt and registration of the manuscript is the first step in the editorial process and does not necessarily imply acceptance for publication. The final decision corresponds to the editorial board, which will finally choose the articles to be published. The selection of the material proposed for publication is based on the interest for the majority of professionals, its scientific soundness, originality, timeliness, timeliness of the information, seriousness in the treatment of the subject, its writing and compliance with the rules of medical ethics. The evaluation process of the articles is automated and the author will be able to receive and exchange with the editorial committee, as well as follow up the evolution of the process through the electronic platform.
The manuscript is sent to two reviewers who will have 30 days to complete the review. Their conclusions will be evaluated by the editorial committee. In case of discrepancy between the two reviewers, a third one will be appointed.
The review of manuscripts is carried out according to the review guidelines according to the type of article, which may be requested by authors and reviewers. The observations and suggestions of the Editorial Board and reviewers will be sent to the author, who should respond as soon as possible within a maximum period of seven days.
The decision of: acceptance, acceptance with modifications or rejection, is communicated by the editor to the author. In case of rejection, the editor sends to the contact author the results of the evaluation with the reviewers' suggestions regarding the improvements that could be applied to the article. If accepted, the article goes to the editorial processing stage.
The maximum time for the publication of an article from its reception, if accepted, is one year.
