Abdominal Ectopic Pregnancy at Term
Keywords:
pregnancy, abdominal pregnancy, ectopic pregnancyAbstract
Introduction: Abdominal ectopic pregnancy is an exceptional anomaly with high associated maternal morbidity and mortality.
Objective: To report a very rare case in obstetric care.
Case report: Patient with a current pregnancy of approximately 32 weeks, without prior prenatal control, who came to the clinic for severe abdominal pain. This pain was associated with imminent uterine rupture with fetal distress when fetal parts were palpated and no uterine contractions were observed. The patient was successfully treated by laparotomy, with removal of the live fetus and the complete placenta.
Conclusions: Abdominal pregnancy is rare, difficult to diagnose, and requires surgical removal of the fetus in cases where the placenta removal is a controversial point regarding its management.
