Abstract

Introduction: Denaturalization of childbirth has resulted in dehumanization. Many women are victims of abuse and disrespectful treatment during this process. Their rights are violated and their physical and mental integrity is compromised, and the quality of care becomes a health problem, valued as a human rights issue.
Objectives: To reflect on the study of violence against women during childbirth, from the identification of certain manifestations present in the Cuban obstetric context.
Methods: A systematic bibliographic review is carried out to develop a reflective critical analysis of the content. For the search, Clacso, Dialnet, Redalyc, SciELO and academic Google databases were reviewed from January to March 2020. Doctoral thesis, master's
thesis and scientific articles were considered. After the identification of the pre-selected papers, the titles, abstracts and keywords were read to verify their relevance.
Conclusions: In Cuba obstetric violence is not yet openly recognized as a form of violence against women, from this derives, above all, the recognition, as well as the imminence of studies that address the subject in a comprehensive way, due to the need to explore, share information and available data derived from these studies, to allow establishing not only legislative sanctions that condemn it, but also educational strategies
that prevent it.
