Obstetric and Neonatal Advantages of Humanized Delivery

Abstract

Introduction: The implementation of humanized childbirth offers multiple advantages at the obstetric and neonatal level, which to date are little known. However, there are still multiple barriers and limitations for it.
Objective: To describe the obstetric and neonatal advantages of humanized childbirth to promote its implementation and future studies.
Methods: A bibliographic review was carried out of articles published on the subject in the SciELO, Scopus, Google Scholar, and PubMed databases from January to May 2022. Thirty six articles were selected, which met the inclusion criteria in English and Spanish. Eight articles had information on the obstetric and neonatal advantages of the implementation of humanized delivery and they were tabulated in an Excel table.
Conclusions: The obstetric and neonatal benefits of humanized childbirth contribute to the well-being of all pregnant women and to the promotion of the World Health Organization recommendations to achieve a positive childbirth experience.
