Introduction: Von Willebrand factor is a fundamental part of hemostasis, which interacts with platelets allowing interaction with the endothelium, which serves as a transporter and stabilizer of factor VIII.
Objective: To dictate a therapeutic strategy for patients with von Willebrand disease.
Methods: A literature search was carried out from January and March 2021 using the medical databases PubMed, SciELO, Medline and ScienceDirect and using the terms "abnormal uterine bleeding" and "von Willebrand disease". Articles in English and Spanish, published after 2015, were selected.
Conclusions: Von Willebrand disease is a coagulopathy that can present itself in a wide spectrum of diseases, especially through clinical manifestations of bleeding. In the case of abnormal uterine bleeding, it affects the health and quality of life of patients, therefore,
early diagnosis and timely comprehensive treatment is vital.
